Exobrew - Fourth Update 👀🏋🏼‍♀️

by Bart van de Kooij on Mar 11, 2024

It's been an eventful month, and we're excited to bring you up to speed on the latest developments.

Certification Update - In our pursuit of certification, our manufacturing team embarked on an intensive journey, engaging with UL, TUV (MiniBrew's EU firm), and ASME in the last weeks.

We're thrilled to announce that we've found a solution to sidestep the ASME process. This breakthrough opens the door for offering an Smart Keg with a standard operation pressure of 15 psi (about 1 bar) and exciting upgrade package, allowing you to carbonate your beer up to an impressive 60 PSI.

Production Plan - As the manufacturing team has finished the 220-240 volt production devices, we fine-tune our production plan for 110 volt devices. The team is making strides towards a small build before full-scale production. The objective is to finish the initial units in May 2024 with a larger batch set for dispatch at the end of September 2024.

As the machine contains over 350 different parts, only 7 parts as of now requires an update for 110 volt device. Here is the detailed list of components we're working on:

Approved Changes:

- The new power cable component is approved

- The EU keg power adapter, rated at 100-240 Volt, requiring only UL certification for approval.

Changes in Progress:

- The heater drawing has been updated, and samples have been ordered. The power will be 625 W / 120V, with a likely rating of 1250W, falling within Minibrew's current range.

- The thermostat/fuse on the heater has undergone a redesign proposal and is currently under review.

- We found a 100-120V motor for the 3-way valve, with UL certification pending.

- The growler head marking needs a simple adjustment.

- Safety valve re-design, allowing the valve to spring open under <15 psi (about 1 bar). The slot should also handle safety valves that spring open under <60 psi (about 4 bars).

Sales Update - The sales momentum post-CES 2024 has been nothing short of extraordinary. The interest in Exobrew has surged beyond our expectations, as we are chatting with leading retailers and there is need for an updated payment system on our shop. Our team is diligently working with providers like Adyen, PayPal, and Affirm to update the check-out process.

Once the payment system is back online, we'll reach out to those who showed interest or placed deposits, facilitating the completion of the full payment. Our plan is to reach out this month. This step is crucial to realizing the production of our first batch of Exobrew devices.

We're grateful for your continued patience and belief in the Exobrew. If you have any questions or concerns, our support team is ready to assist you.
